Introduction to computer music

— Bateman, Wayne - Nama Orang;

Can a computer create music? It can as much as a violin or a piano can create music. A computer is a tool; it is not a musician. If a computer, like a conventional musical instrument, is used to make music, it requires an operator who is a musician. This book is for musicians. It is intended for composers and students of contemporary music who are interested in the application of electronic technology to the arts. In the 30 years since the invention of the tape recorder, many modern composers have begun to realize the tremendous possibilities that electronic devices offer them. Electronic music composi- tion is probably one of the fastest growing trends in the arts in the last decade. It is widely utilized from the concert hall to the television com- mercial studio. Consequently, contemporary composers have a great reason to be interested and fluent in the use of electronic musical instru- ments.
