This book is an update of Artificial Reality (Addison-Wesley, 1983). Its content overlaps the original book. However, much that was presented as a vision in the early 1980s has now been implemented. The VIDEOPLACE concept has been realized as an art form. In addition, portable glasses that allow you to look around in a graphic world, as well as reality gloves and clothing that can inform a computer of your movements in that world, now also exist.
