Technical writing: a guide to manuals reports, proposals, articles, etc., in industry and the government

— Smith, Richard W. - Nama Orang;

It seems superfluous to point out that ours is a technical With the newspapers full of stories about man in space, clean bombs, miracle drugs, and world-wide television networks, this fact is reported to us daily. And with the news of the scientific advances comes the lament that the United States is falling behind the Soviet Union in the training of scientists and tech- nicians. The shortage of well trained technicians is particularly acute. To the colleges and the universities of the country has fallen the task of producing the needed engineers, but industry and the armed forces have still had to train their own technicians. From the laboratories have come a succession of complex mis- sile, radar, and weapons systems that require fully trained tech- nicians for their operation and maintenance, and from the printing presses have come shelves of manuals designed to instruct unskilled soldiers, sailors, and airmen in the use of these new weapons. Behind each of these manuals has been a technical writer.
