The quality function is extremely important, so important that it is constantly in the news, either as a demon leading to the wreck of a nation's econom or as a savior to restore a favorable balance of world trade. Virtually every consumer has the results of the quality function in mind, but few know how quality is achieved. It is enough to lay the blae on the uncaring worker or the shortsighted manager.
